How the treatment is planned.
A sterile microneedling device creates controlled microchannels at a depth chosen for the treatment area and indication. The aim is to support the skin's repair response over time. It is not the same as a home roller, and deeper treatment is not automatically better. A course may be recommended because collagen remodelling develops gradually.
Recovery & safety.
Redness, tightness, tenderness and light flaking are common during early recovery. Avoid picking, excessive heat and unapproved active skincare while the skin barrier settles. Active infection, inflamed acne, a tendency to abnormal scarring and some medicines may affect suitability. Pigment change is possible, particularly without careful settings and sun protection.
Frequently asked questions.
Can microneedling remove acne scars completely?
No. It may soften the appearance of selected scars, but results depend on scar type and depth. Other procedures may be more appropriate for ice-pick or raised scars.
When will I see a change?
Visible change is usually gradual as the skin remodels. Your clinician can explain an appropriate review point for the proposed treatment.
Can it be combined with PRP?
PRP is sometimes used alongside microneedling. The possible benefit, added cost and evidence should be discussed for your specific concern.
